Everything We Know About Threads (So Far!)
This week’s BIG news is Threads, a Twitter competitor just released by Meta.
And it seems like (with all the drama over at Twitter and their recent limit on how many posts you can view every day (?!), people are more than ready to jump ship and give Threads a try. As of yesterday (Thursday, 6th June 2023), more than 30 million folks, including many celebrities and prominent figures, have signed up, and so far, the feedback is very positive!
So it Threads living up to its hype? And should you try it?
Here are our thoughts on Threads (so far!)
Okay, so what exactly is Threads?
Threads is a new messaging app from Facebook that allows users to have more organized and focused conversations. It lets you create specific groups for different topics and conversations, as well as giving you the ability to customize the look and feel of each chat.
You can easily share photos, videos, status updates, and location information and share these posts from Threads directly to Instagram Stories. Threads have a 500-character limit, and you can reply to, repost, and quote others’ Threads posts.
“The vision for Threads is to create an option and friendly public space for conversation. We hope to take what Instagram does best and create a new experience around text, ideas, and discussing what’s on your mind.” - Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg
Sign-up is so simple!
We decided to test Threads, and the first thing that impressed us was how easy it was to get started. If you’re hesitant, trust us, they’ve made it so simple - just a few clicks, and you’re ready to go.
Once downloaded, it will ask to connect to your Instagram profile, and boom - it pulls your profile straight over and follows all the same people!
It’s worth the effort to be an early adopter
Do you love to be the first person to start using something new? Congrats! You’re an early adopter, and you can use that to your advantage!
Right now, as a boutique owner, you can use Threads to shine! Why? Because (at the moment) it’s a smaller playing field, making it easier to get noticed before your competition shows up. So hurry! Maybe you’ll be the first boutique in your town to be on Threads!
Threads is designed to foster communities, so it’s the ideal way to connect more personally with your clients and potential buyers.
Early adopters of new apps and tech are also often involved in improving the product by giving feedback. Threads could be the next big thing, so why not get ahead of everyone else?!
Threads is new yet it feels familiar
Threads blends Instagram’s existing aesthetic and navigation system, so even though it’s a “new” app it has that “Twitter” familiar feeling and a smooth UX. We love that!
Our take on Threads
We’re impressed! It’s quick and easy to sign up and get started - just a few clicks - and the fact that it migrates your Instagram followers makes the transition so smooth.
Using the app was smooth, intuitive, and just as easy as signing up. Honestly, we can’t wait to see where Threads is going, and we love the direction so far!!
